Date: Saturday, October 20, 2018
Time: 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Meeting Location: Old Port of Bladensburg, located at 4418 Baltimore Avenue, Bladensburg, MD 20710. We will meet in the parking lot (Map)
Description: Volunteers will help with a Meadow Restoration Workday at the confluence of the Anacostia River to help maintain meadow grassland habitat for pollinators. This could involve removing invasive plant species from the meadow, seeding the meadow, and/or planting Virginia mallow, a rare native plant. We will provide all necessary tools and training for this event.
Afterwards, we invite volunteers to join us across the street at our office for our annual Tavern Toast, our volunteer and member appreciation party! To learn more about Tavern Toast, click here. We will be posting more information about the event as it gets closer.
Physical Requirements: This event will likely involve digging, lifting, bending, and walking for fair distances. Participants will be expected to wear closed-toed shoes for the duration of the event. The event is not suitable for children or those with health issues. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know.
Registration is required. Please register at least 2 days prior to the event date you chose to volunteer in order to receive additional information regarding proper clothing, etc.
If you have any questions prior to the event, please contact Emily Castelli at ecastelli2@anacostiaws.org or 301-699-6204 ext. 103.
