Date: Saturday, October 23, 2021
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meeting Location: We will gather on the dock at the south end of Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Rd, Bladensburg, MD 20710. Enter the park by turning south at the intersection of 46th Street and Annapolis Road (route 450).
Parking: After turning into the park entrance, keep driving to the parking lot at the far (south) end of the park. There is often plenty of parking at Bladensburg Waterfront Park; however, park use has increased and you may want to arrive early to allow time to find a space.
Description: You'll learn about the history and ecology of the Anacostia River, the threats to its health, and the progress towards its restoration during a two-hour boat tour aboard our pontoon boat along the river's main stem from Maryland into the District of Columbia.
- COVID self-Monitoring: All participants in the Anacostia Watershed Society's (AWS) event are required to:
- Complete online registration, which contains our screening questionnaire, prior to the event. If you answered "Yes" to any of the screening questions during registration, please do not attend.
- Take your own temperature that day, prior to arrival at the event. If your temperature is 100.4 degrees or greater, or you have other COVID-19 symptoms, do not come to the event.
- If you are sick, please do not come to the event.
- If you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 14 days, do not come to the event.
- If you become ill within one week of participating in the event, please consider reporting this to the askhr@anacostiaws.org (our Human Resources email address) for contact tracing purposes. We will keep your identity confidential.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: AWS strongly encourages proper handwashing/cleaning for all participants before and after events.
- Masks: Bladensburg Waterfront Park is not requiring visitors to wear masks outdoors. On the boat, we request that unvaccinated participants wear masks throughout the duration of the event.
What to Wear/Bring: Participants should dress appropriately for the weather on the day of the event. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle (please no bottled water). You are welcome to bring snacks aboard, but please be advised there is not a restroom on the boat.
Note: All tours are weather dependent. We will proceed in light rain, but may need to cancel if there is heavy rain, lightning, or strong wind in the forecast.
We look forward to hosting you on our favorite river!
