1:00 PM EDT - 3:00 PM EDT
Date: Monday, April 25, 2022
Time: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Departure: Bladensburg Waterfront Park
Description: Join AWS for a 2-hour boat tour on the main stem of the Anacostia River to explore the ecological and historical changes that have occurred in the Anacostia and its watershed communities. You will learn about the history of the Anacostia River, the threats to its health, and the progress towards its restoration.
Meeting Location: We will gather on the dock at the south end of Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Rd, Bladensburg, MD 20710. Enter the park by turning south at the intersection of 46th Street and Annapolis Road (route 450).
Parking: After turning into the park entrance, keep driving to the parking lot at the far (south) end of the park. There is often plenty of parking at Bladensburg Waterfront Park; however, park use has increased and you may want to arrive early to allow time to find a space.
What to Wear/Bring: Participants should dress appropriately for the weather on the day of the event.
We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle (please no single-use bottled water). You may also wish to bring sunscreen, sun hat or visor, bug spray, hand sanitizer, and/or binoculars. You are welcome to bring snacks aboard the boat, but be advised there is no restroom on the boat.
Note: All tours are weather dependent. We will proceed in light rain, but may need to cancel if there is heavy rain, lightning, or strong wind in the forecast.
If you have any questions prior to the event, please contact Robinne Gray at rgray@anacostiaws.org. We look forward to hosting you on our favorite river!
